Why I Volunteer Spotlight: Nancy Kovach

HBA West Chester director at large membership and volunteering

Day job: vice president, Salveson Stetson Group

Why I volunteer?
The HBA is a volunteer-run organization to advance women in their careers and personal development in the healthcare industry. Without volunteers to support this important mission there is no path forward for gender parity. I have worked in the healthcare industry most of my career and have seen significant change but there is still a long way to go. I feel a calling to do what I can to support or walk alongside other women in their career endeavors.

What do I get out of it?
Volunteering has allowed me to connect with other professional women on a regular basis, it has broadened my professional and personal network. There are opportunities to try new things in a supportive environment and succeed. Gathering with professionals at different stages in their careers and in different healthcare sectors provides continual learning and sharing opportunities. It’s a great way to stay current on what’s happening in different market segments, meet new friends and have some fun along the way. I always enjoy attending HBA gatherings even after a difficult or long day because there is a sense of comradery, renewed energy that we can make a positive impact toward the future leadership success of women in healthcare. Come join the HBA volunteer team; it may surprise you what you get out of it.
